Job Title: Travel Insurance Claims Adjusters

  • 2+ years’ experience handling traveling insurance claims in cancellation/delay/interruption, baggage, emergency accident and sickness, emergency evacuation and repatriation, political and security evacuation, accident death and dismemberment, and collision damage waivers.
  • Holds independent adjuster licenses in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of travel insurance policies: A thorough understanding of the terms, conditions, and coverage of various travel insurance policies is crucial. This includes knowing the specific coverage limits, exclusions, and claim procedures.
  • Communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively with policyholders, insurance providers, and other relevant parties is essential. This includes active listening, clear and concise oral and written communication, and empathy while dealing with customers.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Claims handlers should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess the validity and legitimacy of claims. They must be able to gather and evaluate relevant information, identify potential fraud or misrepresentation, and make informed decisions based on policy guidelines.
  • Documentation and organizational skills: Accurate and thorough documentation is vital when handling travel insurance claims. Claims handlers must maintain detailed records of all communication, claim documents, and any other relevant information. Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple claims simultaneously.
  • Customer service skills: Providing exceptional customer service is crucial in the claims handling process. Claims handlers should be patient, empathetic, and able to handle difficult or upset customers professionally. They should also be proactive in providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or queries.
  • Time management: The ability to prioritize and manage time effectively is important to ensure timely processing of claims. Claims handlers should adhere to internal service level agreements and regulatory requirements to ensure prompt resolution of claims.
  • Compliance with legal and regulatory standards: Claims handlers must have a sound understanding of legal and regulatory requirements governing the insurance industry. They should ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices when handling claims.
  • Technical proficiency: Proficiency in using relevant software and technology platforms is crucial for efficiently managing claims. This includes claim management systems, document management software, and other tools necessary for processing and tracking claims.
  • Continuous learning: The insurance industry is continually evolving, and claims handlers need to stay updated with industry trends, policy changes, and new regulations. Continuous learning and professional development are essential to ensure effective claims handling.
  • Ethical conduct: Claims handlers should adhere to high ethical standards and maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive customer information. They should act with integrity and professionalism throughout the claims process.
